Meeker County uncovers sophisticated marijuana grow operation

DASSEL – Federal, state and local law enforcement officers uncovered an indoor, marijuana growing operation in Dassel while arresting a suspect wanted on an out-of-state warrant on May 3. At around 11:30 a.m. agents with the U.S. Marshall Office, Drug Enforcement Administration, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, CEE-VI Drug Task Force and Meeker County Sheriff's Office arrested Bao Quoc Huynh, 37, no address listed, who was a fugitive with an out of state warrant. The arrest took place in the 500 block of Marcia Street in the City of Dassel.

During the arrest, agents had reason to believe marijuana was being grown inside the house so a search warrant was obtained. During execution of the warrant, an elaborate marijuana grow operation was discovered with marijuana plants in various stages of growth. Officers seized 1,433 marijuana plants from the residence along with numerous items used for cultivation. Also arrested at the residence was Trong Brandon Ly, 45, of Brooklyn Park. In 24-year career, including 15 years working in narcotics, Sheriff Brian Cruze said he has never seen such a sophisticated operation with this many marijuana plants.
